950 MW Kamalapadu Pumped Storage Hydro Project Proposed
Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited
The Kamalapadu Pumped Storage Hydro (PSH) project is proposed as an off-stream closed-loop scheme with a 950 MW capacity, featuring two artificial reservoirs—an upper reservoir near Kundan Kata village and a lower reservoir near Boyareddypalli. Water from the existing Pendekallu Balancing Reservoir will be used for the initial filling. As both reservoirs are artificial and not located on active streams, the project design aims to minimise environmental impact while enhancing renewable energy storage capacity.
Location: Anantpur Andhra Pradesh
