Uttarakhand government considering tariff-based competitive bidding for 1,320 MW thermal power plant

Government of Uttarakhand

The Uttarakhand government is considering tariff-based competitive bidding to develop its first 1,320-MW thermal power plant, aimed at attracting private developers. Originally planned as a joint venture between Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam and THDC India Ltd, the project aims for fast commissioning. The central government had approved the initial plan in June, and the Central Electricity Authority recommended coal supply under the SHAKTI policy for power generation. If bidding is pursued, the state will seek alternative fuel linkage approval from the coal ministry.
