The Karnataka government is planning to establish 11 new medical colleges under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in districts that currently lack government medical colleges. These districts include Tumakuru, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Bagalkot, Kolar, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Bengaluru Rural, Vijayapura, Vijayanagara, and Ramanagara. The initiative aims to address the gap in medical education across the state, which currently has government medical colleges in only 22 of its 33 districts. A private organization has been assigned to conduct a study, after which a final decision will be made.
