Canal Revamp Project in Kochi

Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL)

Kochi Metro Rail is implementing the Integrated Urban Regeneration and Water Transport System (IURWTS) to revamp six canals into transport and recreational hubs. The project will rejuvenate Kochi-Perandoor, Chilavannur, Edappally, Thevara, Konthuruthy, and Market Canal. Plans include widening canals to 16.5 metres, landscaping walkways, and introducing water sports. A major feature is a 11.5 km waterway with new boat services operating every 30 minutes, along with seamless links to Kochi Metro.
