Rs. 5,000 Crore Inland Waterways Boost for Northeast India

The Central government has unveiled a Rs. 5,000 crore plan to enhance inland waterways and maritime infrastructure across Northeast India. The initiative includes dredging, cargo terminals, tourist jetties, lighthouses, and 85 community jetties in Assam, Mizoram, Tripura, and Nagaland. Of the total, Rs. 1,000 crore worth of projects are underway and Rs. 300 crore has already been completed.
