The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved the establishment of a ?1.35 lakh crore steel plant by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), to be developed in two phases at DL Puram in Anakapalli district. Phase I involves a ?55,964 crore investment for a 7.3 MTPA capacity, targeted for completion by January 2029, while Phase II will add 10.5 MTPA with an ?80,000 crore investment by 2033. The project includes a 2.9 km waterfront captive port and is expected to create 20,000 jobs by 2029.
