RECPDCL Facilitates Milestone Projects in Power Infrastructure Development

In a significant stride towards bolstering India’s power infrastructure, REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a subsidiary of REC Limited, recently marked a pivotal moment. On April 5, 2024, RECPDCL handed over two project-specific Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) as part of crucial developments in the energy sector.

The first SPV, Kallam Transco Limited, and the second, Jalpura Khurja Power Transmission Limited, were established for distinct projects. Kallam Transco Limited focuses on the “Western Region Network Expansion Scheme in Kallam area of Maharashtra,” while Jalpura Khurja Power Transmission Limited is dedicated to the “Construction of 400/220 kV, 2×500 MVA GIS substation Metro Depot (Gr. Noida) with associated lines and 400/220 kV, 2×500 MVA GIS substation Jalpura.”

These SPVs were formed through a meticulous tariff-based bidding process, showcasing a transparent and competitive selection procedure. It underscores the commitment to ensuring efficiency and excellence in project execution.

The successful bidders for these ventures were M/s Indigrid 2 Limited & Indigrid 1 Limited Consortium and M/s The Tata Power Company Limited, respectively. The former secured the Inter State Transmission Project of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, for the development of the Western Region Network Expansion Scheme in Kallam area of Maharashtra. Meanwhile, the latter emerged victorious in the intra-state project for the construction of the GIS substation and associated lines.

Notably, RECPDCL played a pivotal role as the Bid Process Coordinator for both projects, exemplifying its expertise and proactive approach in facilitating such significant endeavors.

The handover ceremony of the SPVs was graced by the presence of Rajesh Kumar, CEO of RECPDCL, along with senior officials from RECPDCL, REC Limited, CTUIL, and UPPTCL. This event symbolizes not only the successful completion of the bidding process but also the beginning of a collaborative journey towards realizing these ambitious projects.

These initiatives hold immense significance in the context of India’s energy landscape. They are poised to enhance the transmission network, augmenting the capacity and reliability of power supply in the respective regions. Furthermore, they align with the broader objectives of promoting sustainable development and ensuring energy security for the nation.

The establishment of these SPVs signifies a milestone in the journey towards a robust and resilient power infrastructure. It reflects the concerted efforts of various stakeholders, including government bodies, private enterprises, and consulting agencies like RECPDCL.

Looking ahead, these projects are expected to contribute significantly to the economic growth and societal well-being by providing access to reliable and affordable electricity. They stand as shining examples of collaborative efforts aimed at powering India’s progress and prosperity.
