Indosol Solar Ushers in New Era of Solar Manufacturing in Andhra Pradesh: Commissioning State-of-the-Art Facility

On April 4, 2024, Indosol Solar Private Limited, a subsidiary of Shirdi Sai Electricals Limited (SSEL), marked a significant moment in India’s renewable energy landscape. The company unveiled its cutting-edge solar PV module manufacturing facility in Ramayapatnam, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, signifying a leap forward in the nation’s quest for sustainable energy solutions. The inauguration of this facility underscores India’s ambitious plans to bolster domestic manufacturing under Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, aimed at reducing reliance on imports and fostering self-sufficiency in renewable energy production.

This state-of-the-art facility, equipped with advanced technology, is poised to revolutionize solar manufacturing in India. The commissioning of the Stringer unit to initiate the 500MW modules line symbolizes a significant step towards achieving India’s renewable energy goals. With an initial investment of Rs 1,300 crore and spanning 30 acres of allocated land, the facility is primed to deliver superior-quality solar products while contributing to India’s energy security.

The commencement of operations at the facility underscores Indosol Solar’s commitment to delivering high-quality solar products and reducing India’s dependence on imports. The company’s focus on innovation and sustainability is evident through its adoption of rigorous safety measures, state-of-the-art equipment, and comprehensive workforce training programs.

The integrated project, once completed, will become the world’s first fully integrated quartz-to-module manufacturing plant. With a projected capacity of 30 GW upstream and 20 GW downstream facilities, the project is poised to drive economic development and employment generation in Andhra Pradesh. The acquisition of land at full market value by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC/APMB) underscores the government’s support towards fostering sustainable growth and industrialization.

Indosol Solar’s participation in the PLI scheme, securing incentives for 10 GW of solar module production, reflects SSEL’s technical and manufacturing competency. This achievement aligns with India’s ‘Make-in-India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives, aiming to build a self-reliant and resilient solar manufacturing ecosystem.

Looking ahead, Indosol Solar remains committed to scaling renewable energy production, generating employment opportunities, and fostering socio-economic development in Andhra Pradesh and beyond. The completion of Phase 1A of the project by December 2024, with a production capacity of 500MW modules, cells, and ingot-wafers, is poised to create direct employment for 800 people, setting a robust foundation for future growth.

With its steadfast commitment to innovation and sustainability, Indosol Solar is poised to drive India’s solar ambitions and pave the way for a brighter, cleaner future.
