Chennai Metro Rail is set to begin a feasibility study for ropeway-based transport systems in key tourist destinations of Tamil Nadu, including Mahabalipuram, Ooty, and Kodaikanal. A prominent proposal involves a two-kilometre aerial ropeway in Mahabalipuram, linking the new bus terminal to the Shore Temple, aiming to provide a scenic transit option and reduce surface-level congestion.
