NHPC Limited is implementing the 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (SLHEP) in Arunachal Pradesh, which has advanced with the installation of the spiral casing for Unit 7. Located 2.3 km upstream on the Subansiri River, the project had experienced prolonged delays over environmental and social concerns but resumed after receiving clearance in 2019. The project’s infrastructure strategically spans across both Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, with the main dam positioned 2.3 km upstream of the Subansiri River in Arunachal Pradesh.
