Madurai Proposes Rs. 140 Crore Drainage Upgrade to Protect Vaigai River

The Madurai Corporation has submitted a Rs. 140 crore proposal to the Tamil Nadu government for upgrading the city’s drainage network and preventing sewage inflow into the Vaigai River. The DPR, prepared by Tata Consultancy Services, outlines measures for sewage diversion, treatment, and riverfront development. Interim cleanup efforts are ongoing pending approval.
