Vingroup to Invest ?60,000 Crore in Mumbai Region for EV and Urban Development

Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup has committed to a massive ?60,000 crore investment in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) following a Memorandum of Understanding with the Maharashtra government. The multi-sector plan focuses on three key areas: electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing, the rollout of extensive EV charging infrastructure, and the deployment of a 60,000-unit electric taxi fleet under its mobility services arm. Additionally, the investment covers large-scale urban real estate development, including the creation of integrated smart townships spanning 1,000 hectares, alongside social infrastructure such as international schools and healthcare facilities.
