Odisha Cabinet Greenlights ?1,647 Crore GIS Substation to Power Keonjhar Mineral Belt

The Odisha State Cabinet has approved the construction of a 2×500 MVA, 400/220/33 kV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) at Basudevpur in Keonjhar district with an investment of ?1,647 crore. The project will be executed by Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited between FY 2026–27 and 2028–29 to address power constraints in the Joda–Barbil–Palaspanga industrial belt. The substation will ease load on existing grids and ensure reliable power supply to upcoming industries in Keonjhar and Koida region of Sundargarh district. The funding includes 30% state equity and 70% through financial institutions.
