The foundation stone for the Old City Metro Rail project in Falaknuma has been laid, with the detailed project report (DPR) set to be finalized by the end of this month. Phase 1 approval had been granted earlier, but changes in cost and requirements since the 2003 DPR necessitate updates. The Metro Rail line will span Afzalgung to Falaknuma, passing through various stations including Salar Jung Museum, Charminar, Shalibanda, and Aliabad. The project, encompassing road widening and utility shifting, is estimated at Rs 2,000 crore.
