Significant Funding Boost for East-West Metro Projects in Union Budget 2024-25

The East-West Metro project has been bolstered by a substantial allocation of Rs 906 crore in the Union Budget 2024-25. This funding includes an additional Rs 400 crore specifically for the Metro corridor between Joka and BBD Bagh, extending from Joka Diamond Park (Phase-I) to Joka-Binoy Badal Dinesh Bagh via Majerhat. The 16.72 km segment will undergo material modification as part of this enhancement. Additionally, Rs 50 crore has been allocated for the 14.5 km Baranagar-Barrackpore and Dakshineswar project. The Dum Dum Airport-New Garia corridor via Rajarhat has also received a notable increase in funding, with Rs 1791.39 crore allocated for its 32 km stretch, up from Rs 1700 crore last year.
