SCCL to Commence Production at Naini Coal Mine in Odisha Following Forest Land Approval

Mining and Metallurgy Sector News | Project News | Project Update | Project Opportunities

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is set to begin production at the Naini coal mine in Odisha after receiving approval for the handover of 643 hectares of forest land on July 4, 2024. Delays in operations were resolved following the receipt of Stage-II forest clearance in October 2022. The mine, with a capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum, was allocated to SCCL in 2015 for captive use in a thermal power plant of the public sector enterprise. This significant development is expected to bolster SCCL’s coal production and support energy requirements. Additionally, the commencement of mining operations will create job opportunities and contribute to the region’s economic growth.
