Government to Build 11 Highways and Expressways Across 16 States by 2025

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has announced plans to build 11 new highways and expressways spanning 5,467 km across 16 states by 2025. This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing effort to enhance national infrastructure. The total length of National Highways has significantly increased from 91,287 km in 2014 to 1,46,145 km in 2024. In the 2023-24 period alone, over 12,000 km of new highways and expressways were added. This ambitious expansion aims to improve connectivity, reduce travel times, and support economic growth across the country.
