Andhra Pradesh Approves RFP for 168 km Krishna Waterway Link to Machilipatnam Port

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the Request for Proposal (RFP) for a 168 km inland waterway project connecting Muktyala to Machilipatnam port. The project comprises an 82 km stretch of the Krishna River and an 86 km section of the Bandar Canal, designed for Class III vessel navigation to handle heavy industrial cargo. The multimodal link will connect inland cement clusters to the coast, reduce logistics costs, and strengthen maritime infrastructure while supporting the development of the Machilipatnam greenfield port as a key regional trade gateway.
