BMC Plans Five Mini Waste-to-Energy Plants for Mumbai Civic Hospitals

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to establish five mini waste-to-energy plants in major civic-run hospitals across Mumbai. These bio-methanation plants will process around 2,000 kilograms of wet garbage daily, generating approximately 170 units of electricity. The initiative aims to efficiently manage waste within hospital premises and utilize biogas produced for running hospital canteens. This sustainable approach aligns with BMC’s efforts to address waste disposal challenges and promote renewable energy use in healthcare facilities.
