The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has reinitiated its elevated road project connecting P D Mello Road (Orange Gate) to Grant Road in south Mumbai by issuing a new tender. The revised plan includes a cable-stayed bridge and spans 5.6 kilometers, traversing densely populated areas of Mumbai. Scrapping the earlier tender from February last year, the project’s cost has now doubled, reaching Rs 1,170 crore. This ambitious undertaking is set to link the southern terminus of the Eastern Freeway with Grant Road, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion in the city.
