DPR for Water Metro Project on Buckingham Canal

The Water Resources Department will prepare a detailed project report to evaluate the feasibility of a Water Metro and developing National Waterway-4 along Buckingham Canal between Ennore and Marakkanam, Tamil Nadu. An initial Rs. 31 crore project covers restoration of a 5-km stretch from Chepauk to Greenways Road with Inland Waterways Authority support. Key works include dredging, pollution control, structural upgrades, bank protection, and recreational spaces, aiming for three-metre depth and 700 cusec carrying capacity.
