Expansion of Dipka Opencast Coal Mine

South Eastern Coalfields has proposed expansion of the Dipka Opencast Coal Mine, an existing mega opencast coal mining project producing power-grade coal under the administrative control of Dipka Area. The mine currently has environmental clearance for a capacity of 37.50 MTPA over an area of 1,999.293 ha. The project has been granted Terms of Reference for capacity expansion from 37.50 MTPA to 40.00 MTPA with an increase in mining lease area to 1,999.386 ha vide MoEF letter dated 09.01.2023, and the public hearing was conducted on 09.06.2023.
