Goa opens hazardous waste treatment facility in Pissurlem

Goa’s first common hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facility has been inaugurated at Pissurlem, Sattari taluka. Managed by Ponda Envocare (PEL), the facility is designed to handle 45,000 metric tonnes of hazardous waste annually, including 25,000 tonnes each of landfillable and co-processed waste and 14,000 tonnes of incinerable waste. Equipped with a rotary kiln incinerator and continuous emission monitoring systems, the project enables safe disposal while addressing the state’s hazardous waste management needs.
