Green Energy Corridor Phase-II to Boost Renewable Power in Ladakh

The Green Energy Corridor Phase-II project, approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs in October 2023, will establish an Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) for 13 GW of renewable energy and a 12 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Ladakh. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) is the implementing agency for this Rs 20,773.70 crore project, which aims to improve power evacuation and grid integration. The project, set for completion by FY 2029-30, includes 1,268 circuit kilometers of transmission lines and two 5000 MW HVDC terminals.
