Exciting developments are underway in Gujarat as plans are set in motion to install floating solar panels along the Narmada canal. This innovative initiative involves a series of 15 solar panels, manufactured locally in Gujarat, to generate a substantial 3 MW of electricity. The ambitious project, receiving preliminary approval from the Gujarat state government, is a collaborative effort led by Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) and Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd (GSECL), with an estimated project cost of Rs 26 crore. The 3 MW solar facility will be seamlessly connected to a 1.5 megawatt/hour (mWh) storage system.
This groundbreaking pilot project, once deemed successful, holds the promise of replication in other locations. The visionary approach aims to harness renewable energy through innovative means, with the potential to make a significant impact on the state’s power landscape.
