IWAI Opens Srinagar Office to Boost Inland Waterways

The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) has opened a new office in Srinagar to advance inland water transport in Jammu & Kashmir. Supporting NW-26 (Chenab), NW-49 (Jhelum), and NW-84 (Ravi), IWAI will install floating jetties, dredge channels, and deploy night navigation aids. Hydrographic surveys and infrastructure upgrades are planned, including proposed navigation in Dal and Wullar lakes. A cruise hotel project for Wullar is also under consideration, promoting eco-friendly transport and regional tourism growth.
