On October 16, 2024, the Chief Minister of Karnataka inaugurated the Cauvery Stage V project, a pivotal initiative by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) funded by JICA. This project is designed to supply an additional 775 million liters per day (MLD) of potable water to Bengaluru, benefiting approximately 5 million residents. Key features include a 775 MLD Water Treatment Plant at T K Halli, a three-stage pumping system with a total head of 445 meters, and 120 km of city trunk mains constructed from Mild Steel.
