KIAL to Extend Runway to 4,000 Meters for Expansion

Kannur International Airport Limited (KIAL) will expedite its runway extension project, increasing its length from 3,050 meters to 4,000 meters to accommodate wide-bodied aircraft for long-haul international flights. The Kerala government is fast-tracking the acquisition of 245.32 acres in Keezhalur and Kanad, with valuation of trees and buildings nearing completion. Funds are being arranged to release compensation, enabling the final land acquisition notification and the commencement of the runway expansion project.
