Kochi Launches ?3,716-Crore Canal Rejuvenation and Water Transport Project

The Rs 3,716.10-crore Integrated Urban Regeneration and Water Transport System project in Kochi aims to rejuvenate neglected canals into navigable corridors, resolve waterlogging, and enhance urban life within two years. Key works include the Rs 39-crore Bund Road bridge over Chilavanoor canal, footpaths, recreational spaces, CCTV-monitored walkways, dredging of Chilavanoor canal (Rs eight crore), and upgrading Market Canal (Rs 38 crore). The initiative, featuring 56 road bridges and 46 footbridges, seeks improved water flow, cleanliness, tourism growth, mosquito control, and better connectivity. Authorities emphasise collaborative efforts to ensure successful implementation.
