MEIL to build India’s first private petroleum reserve

Megha Engineering & Infrastructures (MEIL) has won the Rs. 5,700 crore mandate to build and operate India’s first private-sector strategic petroleum reserve (SPR) at Padur, Karnataka. The 2.5 MMT facility will operate for 60 years, adding to India’s 5.33 MMT SPR capacity. With construction due in five years, the reserve will enhance energy security. The project includes a crude oil filling cost of Rs. 11,020 crore, with ISPRL providing a 214-acre site free of cost.
