New Milestones for Land Acquisition in National Highway Projects
Roads and Highways Sector News | Project News | Project Update | Project Opportunities
From June 1, 2025, MoRTH mandates key milestones for land acquisition and environmental clearances before bidding national highway projects. Over 90% right of way must be acquired before bids, with environmental, wildlife, railway, and utility clearances required at specified stages. This aims to reduce delays, disputes, and cost overruns. As of March 2024, 44% of projects worth over Rs 150 crore are delayed, mainly due to land and clearance bottlenecks, with Maharashtra and northeastern states most affected.
