Odisha to Auction 30 Iron Ore Mines in 2025 to Boost Steel Industry

The Odisha government announced plans to auction around 30 iron ore mines in 2025, addressing steel manufacturers raw material access concerns. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi assured this during a meeting with Indian Steel Association leaders on 15 May, 2025. Efforts are also underway to start mining early from previously auctioned mines and facilitate iron ore supply from Odisha Mining Corporation at competitive rates. Odisha, Indias leading iron ore and stainless steel producer, targets increasing steel output to 130 MTPA by 2030, supporting the nations goal of 500 MTPA by 2047.
