Prime Minister Modi Inaugurates Five AIIMS and 202 Healthcare Projects Nationwide

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently marked a significant milestone in bolstering India’s tertiary healthcare infrastructure and services by dedicating five All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rajkot (Gujarat), Bathinda (Punjab), Raebareli (Uttar Pradesh), Kalyani (West Bengal), and Mangalagiri (Andhra Pradesh). In addition to these AIIMS institutions, PM Modi also inaugurated, laid the foundation stone for, and dedicated a total of 202 healthcare infrastructure projects across 23 states and union territories, amounting to over ?11,700 crore.
Among the projects inaugurated and foundation stones laid were:
Dedication of the Medical College of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) at Karaikal, Puducherry.
A 300-bedded Satellite Centre of Post-Graduate Institute of Medical and Educational Research (PGIMER) in Sangrur, Punjab.
A 90-bedded Multi-Specialty Consulting Unit of JIPMER at Yanam, Puducherry.
Establishment of a National Centre for Ageing in Chennai.
Setting up a new Government Medical College in Purnea, Bihar.
Establishment of two field units of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR): the National Institute of Virology (NIV) Kerala Unit in Alappuzha, Kerala, and the National Institute of Research in Tuberculosis (NIRT): New Composite TB Research Facility in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, among others.
These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and services across the country, ensuring better access to quality medical care for all citizens.
