PVUNL’s 800 MW Supercritical Unit-2 Ready for Commercial Operations

Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (a JV of NTPC Limited and JBVNL) has successfully completed the full-load trial run of its 800 MW Unit-2 at the Patratu Thermal Power Station in Jharkhand. Following the successful commercialization of Unit-1 in November 2025, the readiness of Unit-2 will enable the evacuation of 1,360 MW of power to the state grid. The project is part of a larger 4,000 MW supercritical thermal energy plant being developed in two phases at an estimated cost of ?20,300 crore.
