Siliguri Municipal Corporation Resolves Decades-Long Garbage Issue with Waste Processing Unit

The Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) Board addresses the city’s 70-year-old garbage problem by inaugurating a waste processing unit at the Eastern Bypass dumping ground. Initially processing 170 metric tons daily, the unit will convert waste into raw materials for fertilizers and cement, with plans to increase capacity to 350 metric tons. The project, costing Rs 18 crore, marks a significant step in waste management.
