Southern Railway implements Rs. 310.18 crore Kavach train protection project

Southern Railway is implementing the Kavach 4.0 automatic train protection system across key routes in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. The Rs. 310.18 crore project covers the Jolarpettai–Erode and Chennai Beach–Chengalpattu sections valued at Rs. 158.74 crore and the Shoranur–Mangalore section costing Rs. 151.44 crore. The scope includes installation of new 48-fibre OFC networks and signalling infrastructure to enhance railway safety operations.
