Under the Tamil Nadu Health System Reform Program, three additional floors will be added to the Maternity Child Health wing at Government Peripheral Hospital in Saidapet, Chennai, with ?15.50 crore funding from the World Bank. This upgrade is essential as the hospital addresses the needs of the public, including road traffic accident victims. The State Empowered Committee has approved the vertical expansion due to inadequate facilities, allowing for a pediatric ward with ICU beds, postnatal and medical wards, operation theatres, and doctor duty rooms across a total area of 33,994.32 square feet. The Director of Medical Education will oversee the disbursement of funds through the Public Works Department.
