Tripura introduces CCGT technology to expand Rukhia power generation capacity

Power Sector News India

Tripura will install combined cycle gas turbine technology at the Rukhia Power Plant in Sepahijala district, increasing its capacity by 120 MW. Valued at Rs. 1,119 crore, the project enables higher power output using the same gas volume, improving efficiency amid gas-supply constraints. Despite delays in environmental approvals, the upgrade supports grid stability and modernises the state’s thermal power infrastructure. Tripura is also diversifying into solar power and exploring export opportunities to Nepal.
