Western Railway commissions India’s first 2×25 kV traction system

Western Railway commissioned a 2×25 kV electric traction system at the Nagda-Khachrod section under Ratlam Division. The system includes two Scott-connected 100 MVA power transformers for efficient OHE load feeding, the first nationwide use of Scott Technology in traction substations. Executed by Ratlam’s Electrical Engineering team and EPC contractor BNC Power Projects, the project supports the Mission Raftaar initiative to improve energy efficiency, traction power, and train speeds, modernising railway infrastructure and enhancing passenger experience.
