?150 Crore Sanctioned for Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage Repairs

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved ?150 crore for repairing and upgrading the Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Dowleswaram in Rajamahendravaram. Renovation will begin post-flood season and includes replacing 117 corroded gates, constructing three new head sluices for Delta canals, and repairing eight scour sluices to enhance flood flushing. The project also involves extensive civil and electrical works. The barrage is vital for irrigating 10 lakh hectares and supplying drinking water to 80 lakh people across the region.
