200 Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals Planned Along DFC Network

The Indian government plans to develop 200 Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals (GCTs) under the PPP model along new Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs) to shift freight from road to rail. Currently, 77 GCTs are operational, with each terminal costing around ?70 crore. DFCCIL operates four terminals and aims to commission six more by FY26. Of the 115 DFC stations, 5055 are viable for GCTs. The ?1.24 lakh crore DFC network is expected to boost rail logistics and improve freight efficiency.
