Environmental clearance is sought for the enhancement of production capacity at the Bamebari Iron and Manganese Mine of Tata Steel Limited. The expansion includes increasing manganese ore production from 0.832 LTPA (0.978 LTPA-ROM) to 5.756 LTPA (ROM), along with the introduction of iron ore production at 3.0 LTPA (ROM). The project will also generate 44.18 LTPA of overburden (peak) and a total excavation of 49.94 LTPA (peak) within the 464.0 ha mine lease area located at Villages Palsa (Ka), Kundaposi, Jaribahal, Jajang, and Khandbondh in Barbil, Keonjhar, Odisha.
