Jammu-Akhnoor 4-Laning Project Faces Delays

The Jammu-Akhnoor 4-laning road project, sanctioned in 2015, is unlikely to meet its December 31, 2024 deadline. Work on key bridges, including one over Ranbir Canal, remains incomplete, and contractor M/s Tarmat Pvt Ltd has requested a six-month extension. However, NHIDCL has denied the request due to prolonged delays and substandard work. Originally planned for completion in 2017, the Rs 917-crore project has faced setbacks including land disputes, delayed payments, and poor supervision, now delayed by up to seven years.
