Tunnel Work Completed Between Ayanavaram and Perambur, Chennai Metro

Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) has completed tunneling between Ayanavaram and Perambur under the ?63,246 crore Phase-II project. The 867-metre stretch was bored by TBM Kalvarayan, marking the 11th tunnel completed. This section falls on the MadhavaramSIPCOT corridor, part of the 118.9 km Phase II network featuring three corridors and 48 underground stations. Despite challenges due to diaphragm wall delays at Perambur station, tunneling was completed after 18 months, contributing to the 42.6 km underground alignment.
