Union Cabinet approves Lucknow Metro Phase-1B expansion

The Union Cabinet has approved Phase-1B of the Lucknow Metro Rail Project, allocating Rs 5,801 crore for an 11.165 km corridor with 12 stations, seven underground and five elevated. The extension will connect Old Lucknow commercial hubs, King George’s Medical University, tourist landmarks, and culinary destinations, extending the operational network to 34 km. Officials expect improved urban mobility, reduced congestion, boosted tourism, and economic growth while enhancing environmental quality and quality of life.
