Hydroelectric Extension Project at Idukki

Kerala State Electricity Board is progressing with the plan to set up a second hydroelectric station under the Idukki project. WAPCOS, under the Ministry of Water Resources, has been engaged to prepare the detailed project report and obtain statutory approvals. Of the 14 clearances required, two have been received so far. The proposed 800 MW Idukki extension is expected to generate 1,170 million units annually.
