Coal Ministry Advances First Mile Connectivity Projects

Coal Sector News India

The Ministry of Coal has implemented 139 First Mile Connectivity (FMC) projects to improve coal transportation infrastructure across India. Of these, 65 projects have been commissioned, adding a cumulative coal handling capacity of 552 million tonnes. The FMC projects focus on mechanised coal evacuation systems to reduce manual handling and road-based transport. Infrastructure components include automated loading arrangements and digital monitoring systems for real-time tracking. The initiative is aimed at streamlining coal movement from mines to transportation networks while improving operational efficiency within the coal supply chain.
