CCEA Greenlights Coal-to-SNG and Coal-to-Ammonium Nitrate Projects via CIL Joint Ventures

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has granted approval for equity investment by Coal India Limited (CIL) in the establishment of a coal-to-Synthetic Natural Gas (SNG) Project in the Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) command area through a joint venture with GAIL. Additionally, approval was given for the setting up of a Coal-to-Ammonium Nitrate Project in the Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) command area through a joint venture of CIL and BHEL. These ventures represent key strides in diversifying and maximizing the value chain in the coal sector.
