Odisha Set to Launch Major Highway Projects Under Bharatmala Scheme

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has unveiled plans to commence two significant national highway projects in Odisha: the Coastal Highway and the Capital Region Ring Road. The Coastal Highway, part of the Bharatmala project, will stretch 413 km and cost approximately Rs 23,882 crore. It will be built in three phases: Rameswar to Ratanpur, Ratanpur to Digha, and Jamujhadi to Dhamra. In addition, the Capital Region Ring Road will cover 111 km. These initiatives are aimed at substantially improving the road infrastructure in the region. With the detailed project report (DPR) and approvals nearing completion, construction of the Coastal Highway is expected to start soon.
