Andhra Pradesh approves LiDAR survey for Godavari delta irrigation modernisation

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved a Rs. 13.42 crore LiDAR survey to assess the Godavari delta irrigation network and Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Dowleswaram. Conducted via specialised aircraft, the survey will generate high-precision data on canals, embankments, drainage lines, and encroachments. Covering 788 km of major canals and 4,578 km of minor canals, the project will guide future irrigation upgrades for over 10 lakh acres of farmland and drinking-water supply for 1.2 crore people. Completion is expected within six to nine months.
